Fall Out Boy Channels Inner-Gladiators In New Video For "Centuries"
Just one day after Patrick Stump and his wife Elisa Yao welcomed their first child, Fall Out Boy debuted a new video for "Centuries," the first single from the group's forthcoming album. Stump and his bandmates star as gladiators in a Ridley Scott-inspired music video that plays on the dramatic nature of the song.
The video finds the group fighting for their freedom in front of a crowd of Romans. The storyline, while familiar to the Gladiator film, is a retelling of the classic “David and Goliath” biblical tale. "We wanted to write a song that empowered people who are a little weird,” Pete Wentz says of the new record, which debuted online in September. (Also, a tip of the hat to the group for sampling “Tom’s Diner” by Suzanne Vega. Randomly awesome.)
While the video ends with a bit of a cliffhanger for Fall Out Boy, the news of Stump’s son, Declan, should give the band hope. Let’s hope that he finds his way onto the new album!
