These Musicians Couples Were Perfect, So Why Did They Break Up For Incredibly Lame Reasons?

<3 Love conquers all<3. Until it doesn't.

When Ariana Grande and Big Sean called it a day, we were heartbroken, mostly because of the reason why. Sources claimed that the couple split due to conflicting tour schedules, to which we have two counterpoints. (1.) Couples' tour schedules almost never match up, and (2.) Tours don't last forever. This got us thinking: What are some of the other lame excuses musician couples have given for their breakups?

And then there's the real question: WHY COULDN'T YOU STAY TOGETHER FOR US!?

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie

Hilary Duff supposedly divorced NHL retiree Mike Comrie after three years because her psychic told her that she should. "[Hilary's] psychic actually told her to leave her husband," an insider actually told In Touch. The psychic apparently also told Hilary not to marry Mike in the first place. Was Hilary's decision a self-fulfilling prophecy or was it truly in the hands of fate?

Drake and Rihanna

Drake was all over Rihanna when they were dating. We know he's good in bed, so that couldn't have been the reason why they broke up. What supposedly did these two in was Drake's music career. Because Rihanna apparently didn't have one, too.

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens

There was nothing dramatic about Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens' split. They didn't cheat on each other and neither party was bitter. Like your plaid middle school uniform, Zac and Vanessa just outgrew each other. "It just ran its course," a source told E! rather matter-of-factly of their relationship. "They just grew up," another told Us. Le sigh.

Jason Mraz and Tristan Prettyman

Jason Mraz and Tristan Prettyman almost tied the knot, but the two eventually called it quits. "I've been clinging to my art," Jason told The Daily Beast after the breakup. "I have victory for my art and a great loss for my heart. At the moment, my beautiful fiancee is no longer my beautiful fiancee." This quote is inexplicably poetic, and though it would make for a great song, it sounds almost as though Jason romanticized his own breakup. We're left wondering what really happened.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth almost got married, but as Ariana Grande always says, "almost is never enough." Miley sat down with Barbara Walters for ABC's The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 news special, during which Miley touched on her split with Liam. "I don't think I realized what 19 truly is... It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years, but now, I just feel like I can actually be happy," she told Walters. So, did she just like wearing the ring or nah?

Ellie Goulding and Skrillex

Ellie Goulding and Skrillex made so much sense together, their relationship was a little too logical. One source made it sound as though their decision to break up was as anticlimactic as the news of their romance was. "It's over. Just a classic case of long distance being impossible," the source told Us of their breakup. Ah, the old "long distance is impossible" saying. Classic.

Selena Gomez and Zedd

We understand the "Selena Gomez still loves Justin Bieber" narrative, but what we don't understand is this one: "Zedd is all about getting his album ready and being out of the magazines and Selena is all about her movies, Mexico, and music," a source told HollywoodLife.com. Selena goes to Mexico to take a vacation, and suddenly, she's "all about" it? Cut a girl a break.

Ariana Grande and Big Sean

Ariana Grande and Big Sean were perfection. The hand-holding. The face-holding. The adorable Instagram pictures. "BEST MISTAKE." Why did these two ever part ways? Their tour schedules didn't match up. See above.
