So Just How Much Sex Will We See In 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'?

At the Hollywood Film Awards on Monday night, everyone on the red carpet was scrambling to talk to a producer, of all people. Not just any producer, mind you, but Michael De Luca, producer of Fifty Shades of Grey. But while everyone else was hoping he'd leak who would be replacing Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey (like he'd tell!), our own Kate Spencer wisely asked a much more important question: Just how much of the book's many sex scenes will make it onto the screen?

"A picture is worth a thousand words," he said. "Movies can be more subtle than the printed page. The movie is going to be R rated but it’s going to be very very sexy."

The book had to use more words to put us in the head of Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) as she awakened her inner goddess (and S&M submissive), De Luca explained, but the visual medium of film will show rather than tell. Sounds promising.

The movie's intent will be to stay "very very true to the spirit of what a great love story it is," he said. "To get a piece of material that’s really the exploration of one human relationship over three book, and in our case three movies, that tells the love story between two damaged people who are trying to come together --- those books break my heart every time I read them. We’re going to stay true to the author’s intent to craft it as a very compelling beautiful love story."

Just as long as the sex is in there too, by all means, craft away!
