Mick Jagger's Long-Time Girlfriend, Designer L'Wren Scott, Found Dead Of Apparent Suicide
L'Wren Scott, the world famous fashion designer and long-time girlfriend of Mick Jagger, was found dead today of an apparent suicide. She was 47 years old.
Her body was discovered by an assistant at 10 AM this morning hanging from a scarf tied to a door knob in her Manhattan apartment. Scott had reported texted the assistant at 8:30 AM, requesting that they come over. As of now, no note has been found. "She was pronounced dead on arrival by the emergency medical services," a representative for the NYPD told the Daily Mail. "The investigation is ongoing. We are awaiting medical examiners to determine the cause of death."
The designer had been dating Mick Jagger since 2001, when the pair met on the set of a photoshoot. Jagger is currently on tour with The Rolling Stones in Australia, but his spokesperson says that the singer is "completely shocked and devastated." According to insiders, the two were still very much a couple, and there was no reason to suspect that relationship woes would have played a role in her death.
Scott first launched her brand in 2006, and it soon caught notice in the entertainment world. Her designs have been seen on the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Penelope Cruz, Sandra Bullock and even First Lady Michelle Obama. Numerous actresses have worn her gowns to the Academy Awards, and she was slated to design a wedding dress for Angelina Jolie.
She had previously ranked among The Hollywood Reporter's 25 Most Power Stylists three years in a row, but Scott surprised her admirers last month by canceling her London Fashion Week show at the last minute. Reportedly the problem was due to production delays that help up the wardrobe. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this time.
