Grammys Behind The Scenes: Witness Riff Raff Being Adorable With Sophia Grace And Rosie

Riff Raff has a soft side.

I'll admit to being weirdly obsessed with Riff Raff (aka Jody Highroller). Is he our generation's version of Andy Kaufman or a talented hip-hop performer I'm supposed to take seriously? (The latter, me thinks.) Is he maybe kind of attractive with those sparkling blue eyes? (Yes.) Is he completely and utterly ridiculous in the best way possible? (Also yes.) Whatever your conflicting Riff Raff emotions may be, I have a story that is sure to charm you: I witnessed Riff Raff on the Grammys red carpet bonding with two tiny British girls, and it was nothing short of adorable.

As the social media producer for MTV and VH1 at the Grammys, I was stationed on our platform right next to the crew from Ellen DeGeneres' show, which included her precious correspondents, Sophia Grace and Rosie. Yes, those girls who went viral on YouTube singing "Super Bass" in 2011.

They're still around, they're still really excited about everything, and they're still wearing a lot of pink. Apparently their fifteen minutes are stuck on repeat. Not that anyone minds - the celebrities love talking to them. Katy Perry avoided all press interviews by walking behind the red carpet but then spotted Rosie and Sophia Grace and summoned them over for a hug while I glared enviously from my corner.

Even better: Riff Raff is obsessed with Rosie and Sophia Grace, too. I know this because I watched him walk over to them slowly on the red carpet, like a seventh grade boy approaching a girl about a slow dance to "End of the Road," and say "I'm a really big fan of you guys." He had to say it a few times, because I guess they couldn't hear him over the sounds of their own screams. (Yes, Sophia Grace and Rosie are Riff Raff fans, too.) He also had to bend down because he's so tall and they're so wee, and it only made the conversation that much more precious to watch.

Then, for some reason, he took off his giant bling-y chains and gingerly put one around each girl's neck, like a new dad changing a diaper for the first time. It was incredibly sweet. The three of them posed for photos together, grinning like little angels. Sophia Grace clutched the diamond-encrusted bottle of cough syrup around her neck, proudly showing it off for the cameras.

When they finished bonding, Riff Raff reclaimed his jewels and sauntered off into the cold, misty night (or... the Staples Center), but not without first posing for a photo for me. I only wish I could have worn his necklace, too.
