Chrissy Teigen is Offering to Pay a $100,000 to Get McKayla Maroney Out of Her Non-Disclosure Agreement

Add this to the list of reasons you love Chrissy Teigen.

Chrissy Teigen is known for having Twitter thumbs of steel. One look at her page and you'll see that she takes no nonsense from anybody (especially not mommy shamers or the president.)

Today, she decided to use her Twitter to make a point about the unfairness of non-disclosure agreements.

USA gymnast McKayla Maroney is one of the over 140 women who have come forward to accuse former USA gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar of sexual abuse. In November 2017, he admitted that he used his position to sexually abuse young girls.

But according to The Daily Mail, Maroney won't be able to testify at Nassar's sentencing because of a 2016 non-disclosure agreement that she signed as part of her $1.25 million settlement in her lawsuit against USA Gymnastics.

Eighty-eight women are scheduled to give victim impact statements this week, and her NDA will keep her from being able to share her experience.

When Teigen caught wind of this, she was outraged:

She offered to pay the $100,000 fine so that Maroney would have the chance to speak out against her accuser. "The entire principle of this should be fought--an NDA to stay quiet about this serial monster with over 140 accusers. I would be absolutely honored to pay this fine for you, McKayla."

Maroney has not publicly responded, but Chrissy's tweet is garnering a lot of attention and support.

We're glad that Chrissy's take no sh-t attitude is being used to help another woman and start a larger conversation about silencing victims. As if we didn't love Chrissy Teigen enough already.
