A Serious Minute: New Doc 'Bordering on Treason' Shows The Iraq War Through A Different Lens

We're going to take a quick break from our usual weighty discussions of Kardashians and red carpet fails and Kardashian red carpet fails to point you in the direction of a new documentary making the rounds at film festivals this winter, Bordering on Treason. The film by Trish Dalton follows photographer Lorna Tychostup --- who, full disclosure, also happens to be the mother of former VH1 staffer Lacey Seidman ---  as she documents the lives of civilians in Iraq from the days just before the war until the recent withdrawal of troops.

In order to enter the country and photograph the people the way she wanted to, Tychostup risked her life, imprisonment and a whopping million-dollar fine (not to mention the wrath of Fox News). Why would she do it? And what were the consequences of her actions? Check out the trailer above, and then head over to BorderingonTreason.com to find out about screenings near you. The next ones coming up are January 26-28 at the Hudson Valley Programmers Group in Upstate New York and February 15 at the Pasadena Film Festival.
