#WasteHisTime2016 Isn't Feminist, It's Just Mean

Feminism isn't telling a guy you'll send him nudes and then sending him screenshots of a picture loading.

If you were active on the Twitterverse last night, you probably noticed the trending hashtag #WasteHerTime2016.

The trend, which was probably started by a bunch of dateless dudes, perfectly summed up all of the stupid things that men do to waste women's time. I'm talking about when a guy makes plans with you and then goes MIA at the last minute, when he doesn't text you back after a great date, when he pretends like you're his girlfriend and then brings you to dinner with another woman, etc., etc.

In response, women decided to give men a taste of their own medicine via the hashtag #WasteHisTime2016, proving that women can be just as mean-spirited and cowardly as men. Though both hashtags are highly entertaining, some started confusing #WasteHisTime2016 with being feminist. But as this feminist Twitter user points out, it's not.

There's a difference between taking a feminist stance and just being downright mean, ladies. Spending all day with a guy and then telling him later that night that you were actually bored is not feminist. Asking him to travel across the country to come meet you and then ghosting out on him when he does is not feminist. Telling a guy you'll send him nudes and then sending him screenshots of a picture loading is not feminist. It's just rude.

Having said that, the #WasteHisTime2016 tweets are still funny, as long as you don't take them to heart and actually ruin someone's day. Rise above, ladies, and remember: It's not feminism. It's just fantasy.
