The Ultimate Movies for D-Bags
The Entourage movie hits theaters this week, so you might as well mark that date as D-Bag Christmas. The hit HBO comedy about a famous jerk (and his jerky, albeit pretty tragic hangers-on) was tied up with a nice little bow back in 2011, but the adventures of Vince, E, Turtle, Johnny Drama, and the biggest jerk of them all, Ari, will inexplicably carry on on the big screen.
The once-celebrated series has become something of an easy target/punchline on the Internet (ohhhhh yeahhhhhh) and still being associated as a fan of the series marks you with a dreaded d-bag stamp.
Entourage will, undoubtedly, celebrate the douchey antics of these guys, but, sadly, it's not the first movie to portray a-holes as the heroes. In anticipation of the d-bag fest that will be Entourage, we're looking back at other flicks that celebrate jerks and general jerkiness. (Jeremy Piven, Vince Vaughn, and Bradley Cooper appear in most of them.) Ohhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh.
In the Company of Men (1997)
Two corporate monsters (played by Aaron Eckhart and Matt Malloy) decide to manipulate, date, and then simultaneously dump a deaf, self-conscious female coworker just for the hell of it. Yep, these guys take the d-bag cake.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Three-plus hours of the most morally corrupt d-bags doing deplorable things to everyone and everything in their path and, for the most part, getting away with it. A terrifying study of how much d-bags run the world and leave the rest of us scraping by. (Still, Leo's dance moves are pretty dope.)
Very Bad Things (1998)
The ultimate in movie d-baggery: a group of friends (including, you guessed it, Jeremy Piven) kill a prostitute during a bachelor party weekend and spend the rest of the time covering up some murder, murdering more people, and continuing to do other morally reprehensible things. Very bad doesn't even begin to cover these guys.
The Hangover Movies (2009-2013)
As funny as their drunken antics may have been (the first time around, anyway), you can't deny that these guys, for the most part, were a bunch of jerks. From their horrible treatment of women, animals, and babies alike, to some of their wildly un-PC views of the world (at one point Bradley Cooper's character Phil complains, "Don't text me, it's gay"), these dudes probably all should have gotten lost.
Wedding Crashers (2005)
Lying and manipulation pretty much define every relationship in this hit comedy. And while Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are pretty douchey here (admit it, they are), Bradley Cooper as the villainous boyfriend ultimately takes the d-bag cake in a movie stacked with them.
Old School (2003)
You know you're especially douchey when Jeremy Piven is the voice of reason in your movie. But you'd be a pissed-off Dean, too, if a group of grown men (a few of whom have wives and children) threw ragers on your campus and engaged in general douchey behavior like hazing.
Bachelorette (2012)
Hey, girls can be d-bags, too. Case in point: the viciously mean girls who spend their bridesmaids duties basically sabotaging (they ruin her dress) and smack-talking (they make fun of her weight) their poor "friend." With friends like these who needs bridesmaids?
I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell (2009)
The douchebag bible was adapted into a movie to spread the gospel of narcissism, sexism, alcoholism, and general assholery.
The Social Network (2010)
These guys lied, cheated, stole, and acted like a bunch of chauvinistic jerks. No wonder they did so damn well on the Internet.
Borat (2006)
It's hard to decide who's douchier: Borat himself (cultural misunderstandings or not, the guy is a total jag) or the countless college kids who spent the whole of 2006 quoting him and wearing that damn bathing suit.
