Palladia is airing Robert Plant's full Live From The Artists Den concert Wednesday, April 9 at 9/8C. We've got a sneak of the trailblazing Led Zeppelin frontman rocking fan-favorite cover "Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down" from the self-titled debut of his short-lived group Band Of Joy at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
You'll have to wait until next week to hear the legendary voice — that influenced the likes of David Lee Roth, Freddie Mercury, Tori Amos, Axl Rose — roar through his 11-song set (complete with Zeppelin reworks), but in all honesty, Robert Plant's slowed down go at the 1931 Great Depression-era gospel song is enough to keep even the most impatient Robert Plant fan waiting (on pins and needles, mind you, but still waiting) until the full episode. Good God does Plant squeeze every bit of country soul he can muster out of that storied 40-year-old master vocal! By the time Band of Joy joins in with their own haunting thrums to harmonize along with the melody, you'll fully expected someone to spirit you away to the nearest river like an Evangelical Baptist to cleanse all sins. I swear, if Robert Plant ever decides to turn away from secular rock and pull an Al Green, I'm so joining his congregation.
Can't get enough of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer? See what Plant had to say when we caught up with him last summer while the self-proclaimed animated senior citizen readied for tour with his latest outfit the Sensational Space Shifters. Turns out, one of the most influential singers in rock history is "a bit of a nerd." Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant Back On US Tour With Sensational Space Shifters
