Wendy Williams is Taking a Break From Serving Hot Takes and Tea For Medical Reasons

This time, it's the doctor's orders.

Doctors have ordered Wendy Williams to take a mandatory three week break from her talk show in order to deal with issues related to Graves' disease and hyperthyroidism.

In an exclusive statement given to People, Wendy's reps confirm that the polarizing TV personality will be taking a break in order to give her body some much needed rest and recuperation.

“Wendy is a true champion and has never missed a day of work. But her health and well-being must be put before all else,” a Wendy Show spokesperson told the magazine. “Wendy has been openly dealing with her Graves’ Disease for many years in addition to hyperthyroidism. Yesterday, Wendy’s doctor prescribed a necessary three weeks of rest to get her levels and medication in sync. The show will be in repeats during this unplanned hiatus. A live show was produced today so that Wendy could speak directly to her fans and explain her condition.”

Graves' disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid glands. It comes with a wide range of symptoms including weight loss, anxiety and twitching/bulging eyes. Wendy has also suffered from thyroid issues that existed prior to her Graves' disease diagnosis.

In a pre-recorded taping of her show today, Wendy spoke about her impending time off. “My doctor has prescribed — are you ready? — as of today, three weeks of vacation,” she announced to her fans. “What? Who are you? I was pissed. I’ll be back in two. I’m not an heiress — who is going to pay my bills? Are you serious? I’m just saying, I come from working class.” She goes on to say that the doctor's order did teach her a very important lesson about self care. “What I want to say to women, more than men, is stop putting everyone first because if we’re not good, they’re not good,” she said.

Wendy's time off seems to be long overdue considering her health scare from a couple of months ago. Back in October, Wendy fainted during a live Halloween broadcast. She quickly bounced back from the terrifying moment, telling viewers she was simply "overheated" in her Statue of Liberty costume.

“It was scary,” Wendy revealed the following day's episode. “It was really scary. It was so scary, all I could think of in the middle of the scare was, ‘Don’t pull the podium over on you, because that’ll make it worse.’ ” Paramedics had also informed her that she was low on electrolytes.

Get well soon Wendy! We'll see you in March.

Certain moments prove you should never take your heath for granted. Remember when Samantha's mother Kim had a health scare during a Love & Hip Hop confrontation, all the ladies at the table (except Yandy) were nervous.
