Cara Delevingne Quits Modeling at 23 Because She's Over it and She Can
Cara Delevingne shocked us all by telling The Times she would “not [be] doing fashion work any more.” In the interview, she's truthful about the harsh realities of the fashion industry and the negative impact it had on her well-being. Many people may be shaking their heads at the fact that Cara is bashing the industry that gave her her career and fame, but I know my respect for her just went through the roof.
It seemed like Cara's career was just taking off, seeing as how she is only 23 and began modeling just six years ago. But she admits that being in that world "didn’t make [her] grow at all as a human being," and that she "felt so old." An unapologetic Cara opens up about the serious mental impact modeling had on her: "I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge. It is a a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse.”
And even though Cara can thank modeling for her success, I applaud her for telling us WTF is up behind the runway curtains, because how else would we know? Plus, we have a feeling she'll be just fine. Go forth and flourish, CD.
