Method Man Wants to Know What It's Like to Have Sex with Himself
Director Thomas McCarthy's The Cobbler is a film about a New York shoe repairman who comes across a magical heirloom that allows him to live someone else's life simply by stepping into their shoes. One of those men? Method Man's Ludlow, a gangster with a gift for intimidation. Naturally, we had to ask the rapper-turned-actor whose shoes he would step into if he could, and his answer is hilarious.
“My wife’s,” Method Man said with a laugh. “I’d like to know what it felt like to have sex with me.”
It's no secret that Method Man's been more prolific on film and TV screens than the radio in recent years. When asked about his love of acting, he had this to say: “When I got my foot in the door back when, I should’ve just stuck with it. But I was so in love with doing music that acting took a backseat. I probably would be working a lot more than I am now if I had stayed the course [since How High].”
As for roles he's eyeing, he admits to wanting the badass parts Sylvester Stallone is offered, but he's not ruling anything out. “In this day and age, I'm not [worried about being typecast] at all. I’m more worried about not being cast," he said. "There’s not enough jobs out there."
While he hasn't gone out for any pilots this season, he's excited about television’s changing landscape. “Honestly, TV is getting a lot better than movies and this pilot season is pretty hot. I envy the avid television watcher because they’re gonna love it," he said. "Actually, me and my manager are trying to write the next great black sitcom.”
The TV series that’s getting him excited? Game of Thrones. “I hope Jon Snow [claims the Iron Throne],” he added. “He’s with the Night’s Watch. He’s the bastard son of Nedd stark. I just see it.”
The Cobbler isn't the only film the 44-year-old star has coming out this year. This summer, look out for him in Amy Schumer's highly anticipated, Judd Apatow-helmed Trainwreck. “I look at [Amy] and I’m like ‘Who is this kid with this shot right now?’ You look at her and she’s adorable and you can’t believe some of the crap that comes out of her mouth,” he said of his leading lady. “She wanted to do a lot of rapping on set and I had to keep her one-hunnid.”
Not only does he have incredible respect for Schumer, but he's also got an admiration for his director. He stated, “Judd’s mad cool. What makes his comedy work is that he sees it from the other side of the fence. He lived it. Matter fact, the first time I read with Judd Apatow was for the Adam Sandler-Seth Rogen movie [Funny People]."
Fans will have to settle for acting for now as Method Man is taking his his time to release more music. “The Crystal Method album I’m working on now, not telling how far I am with it now, knowing this business. I’m doing it at my leisure,” he said. “Meth Lab is gonna come before that, which is really just a compilation of artists that are looking for a shot. What better way to do it than to put ‘em on a Meth mix CD?”
The Cobbler hits theaters and VOD this Friday, March 13.
