Taraji P. Henson Lives to Make Her No. 1 Fan (Her Mom) Proud
We all love our moms dearly for the sacrifices they've made, and Taraji P. Henson is no different. To help celebrate VH1's Dear Mama: An Event to Honor Moms, the actress opens up about why her mother is the best.
The Empire star credits her mother's composure while raising a future Hollywood superstar. "Her patience with raising me," Taraji explains. "I was a very rambunctious child. I had a lot of energy. when I finally found a way to channel it into the arts, she came to see my first play and she understood why God gave me all that energy."
We understand, Taraji. Playing the brash Cookie Lyon on Empire must require endless amounts of energy. She further explains that her mom is her No. 1 fan. It's the reason her mother never misses a movie premiere.
"Whenever I tell her I'm going to be on something she tells the world," Taraji jokes. "I live to make her proud, because of all of the sacrifices she made for me growing up."
