Brandy Had Time For Trolls Who Accused Her of Being Petty Over Her Bond With Whitney Houston
Today would have been Whitney Houston’s 54th birthday, which is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the influence she left in music and pop culture. Sadly, this day also brought forth a whole lot of unnecessary drama involving Brandy, Monica and social media.
It all started when singer Monica posted a tribute to Whitney Houston early this morning, sharing a brief but heartfelt happy birthday message to one of the greatest singers of all time.

Shortly afterwards, Brandy followed-up with her own series of posts honoring her "fairy godmother" while claiming that Whitney "passed her the torch" before she died.

She also shared a throwback clip confessing that Whitney is her idol...

The nature of Brandy's posts, and her very strong emphasis on their close bond, had fans thinking she was being intentionally shady towards Monica. It also doesn't help that the rumors of Brandy and Monica's backstage feud have been running for eons. Welp, if petty is what the people wanted, they definitely got it. Not only did Brandy take the time to address the Instagram trolls head on...she also threw some very direct shade at Monica aka "Oh Girl."
While it does make sense that Brandy feels sentimental about Whitney's death falling on her birthday, Twitter couldn't help but poke fun at her relentlessness to prove just how close they were:
But trust and believe, folks like Keke Palmer will never allow Brandy slander on her watch...
While shooting her video just two days after Whitney Houston's passing, Brandy shares her thoughts with the Behind The Music cameras.
