Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have been on and off for the last seven years. If it seems like a long time, maybe it's because it is. Or maybe it's because the couple has broken up and gotten back together more times than we can count. But right now, it seems to be on for good. After a nearly three-year hiatus, Liam and Miley (Liley? Miliam?) have been stronger than ever since reuniting in 2016 and brought their #relationshipgoals in toe. Though the couple has had their ups and downs (and twerking scandals), they've known each other since 2009, and they met playing characters in a Nicholas Sparks movie! If that's not true love, we don't know what is!

August 2016:
Miley throws Samantha Hemsworth (Liam's sis) a "very Miley" party, complete with an all-gold theme, some butt-painting (exactly what you think it is), and of course, Miley's BFF Wayne Coyne.
Liam does an interview with GQ Australia. When asked if he thought the decision to propose to Miley back in 2012 was "impulsive," he replied, "It was a well thought-out idea. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time—we both needed that." It's true that they were young - he was 19 and she was 22.
Billy Ray Cyrus weighs in on the re-engagement in an interview on E!. Mr. Cyrus played coy saying, "Here's what I do know: they're so happy, that's the main thing. Miley and I, we always had this slogan, 'If you ain't happy, it ain't working,' and just seeing these — I still call 'em kids — these two kids happy, that's all that matters."
April 2016
Though they confirmed it was back on in January, the couple isn't seen publicly until they are spotted getting lunch in Australia last April.
January 2016
Miley posts an Insta of herself wearing a ring that looks suspiciously like her diamond engagement ring from back in the day. And, it's on THAT finger. Fans FREAK.
Finally, in late January, they confirm they are officially engaged again.
Miley gets "the cut." No word on whether this is just wedding jitters, or a makeover for fun.
June 2012
Miley and Liam publicly confirm they are engaged. Miley starts wearing the 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring.
March 2012
Engagement rumors swirl when Miley attends The Hunger Games premiere with Liam, wearing a very sparkly ring on ~~that~~ finger.
But Miley denies the engagement.
Summer 2011-February 2012
More award shows and parties; the couple seems completely happy together.
In the February 2012 issue of Details, Liam says that Miley makes him "really happy" and defended her most recent weed-smoking scandal.
April 2011
Miley and Liam are back on, but a source close to them says they're just "taking it slow."
Fall 2010
Liam and Miley hit their first bumps in the road. In August, People reported the two had broken up, largely due to Miley's work schedule.
A month later, they're back on. They were spotted running errands together, and hanging out.
By November, friends and family close to the stars said they had broken up for good.
June 2010
Miley tells MTV News that Liam is the inspiration for her song, "I Can't Be Tamed."
Spring 2010
Miley and Liam begin attending all the events together: premiers, award shows and swanky parties. It's basically prom every weekend for these two lovebirds.
The two were seen kissing at Elton John's Oscars party.
