Andre Lyon Doesn't Sing on 'Empire,' But Damn Does Trai Byers Have a Voice IRL
During a live Q&A with the Empire cast, Trai Byers proved that despite his character Andre Lyon's musical shortcomings, the actor can belt it out in real life.
Around the 30-minute mark, after Byers discusses how Andre feels ostracized because he's the only Lyon who can't lay down his own tracks, the moderator, EW's Tim Stack, brings up Byers' great singing voice. Taraji P. Henson adds to his reveal by encouraging Byers to perform live. Taking center stage, the actor soulfully sings a few lines of Stevie Wonder's "Lately," leaving the crowd swooning.
His other co-star stars Terrence Howard. Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, Kaitlin Doubleday, and Grace Gealey, as well as producers Lee Daniels, Danny Strong, Brian Grazer, and Ilene Chailken all cheered on in support.
