As we type this, tens of thousands of people are flocking to Times Square to bid adieu to the year 2013 and watch the Big Ball drop. Naturally, we're feeling a bit nostalgic for the year that was, too, and looking back at the songs that defined the year. Unfortunately, as songs achieve critical mass in terms of popularity, that's right about the same time that they begin entering the "overplayed" stage of their lifecycles. This list is dedicated to them.
As much as we enjoyed viral smashes like "What Does The Fox Say?" and "Harlem Shake" when they first burst onto the scene, we now find ourselves cringing when they enter our earspace. Additionally, songs like "Brave" and "Applause" made their way into commercials and, over the course of weeks and months, began to lose their luster. So, what you'll find above is our list of 13 Songs From 2013 (That We Really Loved!) That We Hope Never To Hear In 2014. So fire up our Spotify playlist below and crank up the volume, for this playlist will self-destruct once the clock strikes midnight.
