VOTE: What Year Brought Us the Best XXL Freshman Class?
2017 marks the ten year anniversary of the XXL Magazine freshman class list, an annual top ten series that honors new/underground rappers on the rise of each year (excluding 2008). J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Chance the Rapper are just a few big name artists that have been featured in the coveted series. Love and Hip Hop cast members Saigon and Papoose were also XXL freshmen. Rap affiliate and '07 freshman Young Dro also made cameos on the show.
Which of their classes is the best though? 2012 brought us a team of hit makers including Future, French Montana, Macklemore, but 2013 gave us profound lyricists like Schoolboy Q, Logic, and Ab-Soul.
XXL recently released the 2017 edition of the list bringing the catalog to an even ten, so to celebrate the decade long anniversary, lets get to the bottom of which year of rising MCs gave us the most talent. Take a look at each class below, and vote on your favorite in the poll at the bottom.
