Take That, Haters: Michelle Williams Lands Her Own Reality Show
If you thought Beyoncé's documentary wasn't real enough, keep those fingers crossed for additional perspective into the life of Blue Ivy's mother via one of her sisters. Michelle Williams, of Destiny's Child, gospel music, and notable GIF fame, will chronicle her latest professional developments in a new reality series from Entertainment One Television. Yes, the potential for more Beyoncé on your TV is real.
Produced by Williams, Tara Long, Phil Thornton, Jeff Hevert and John Dee Hammond, My Sister's Keeper will focus on Williams and the release of her latest gospel record (there have been three studio albums already) as well as the relationship with her sisters. Expect some mentions of Fela! and casual references to "B" and "Kelly," as well as a Beyoncé-like approach to skirt around the granny-dancing comparisons. While her return to the stage as a member of DC3 at Super Bowl XLVII came with some criticisms, Michelle has already addressed those haters; signing (what we hope is) a lucrative television deal is the final brush of dirt off her very lovely shoulder. But really, this project is all about inspiring others. Says Michelle:
Working together on my new gospel album and television series, I am excited to share with everyone a behind-the-scenes look at the inspiration and journey of recording for the album, performing, fun family times and other unforgettable experiences out together with my dear sisters.
But what about your adopted sissies? How much Beyoncé can we expect to see? Trick question: there will never be enough. In all seriousness, we hope Michelle gets to own the spotlight throughout the entirety of her series, perhaps silencing those who haven't stopped making her the punchline to every joke told in 2013. Yes, she's fallen on a hard times (literally speaking) before, but she is a "Survivor" after all.
