Kim Kardashian Apologizes to Anyone Offended By Her Aaliyah Costume

"I wasn't dressing up as a race or culture but rather as a woman I admire and think is amazing."

Kim Kardashian paid homage to several musical icons for Halloween. From spot-on recreations of Cher, Madonna and Selena Quintanilla Perez, Kardashian received a slew of props for slaying Halloween look after look. Things took a turn for the worst when the reality starlet recreated an iconic look worn by fallen R&B superstar Aaliyah.

Kardashian was quickly called out for cultural appropriation for donning Aaliyah's infamous "Try Again" ensemble. Silencing her critics, Kardashian quickly addressed the controversy.

"Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend. I saw online that some people were offended by my Aaliyah costume and I am sorry if that offended anyone, but I wasn't dressing up as a race or culture but rather as a woman I admire and think is amazing, so I don't agree honestly," she began.

Dishing on her plight as the mother of two bi-racial children, Kardashian added, "I play all kinds of music in my home and I like for my kids to be exposed to many different artists as options for our halloween costumes. We don't see color in my home. It's all love and respect."

Kardashian closed by sharing the true intent of her family's halloween costumes. "Kourtney was Michael Jackson for one of her costumes and she wasn't criticized. My son was Axel Rose. We are just paying homage to people and artists we love and respect —it's that simple," she concluded.
