Bruce Jenner Opens Up, "I Am a Woman" on Diane Sawyer Interview

"What I'm doing is going to do some good," Jenner told Sawyer.

Bruce Jenner's anticipated sit-down with Diane Sawyer happened Friday night, and he finally told the world, "I am a woman."

Yes, Jenner identifies as transgender. The former Olympian spoke openly about his gender identity, sexuality and family during the interview. Here are some of Jenner's most important soundbites:

On his gender identity: "...I am a woman. My heart and soul—in everything I do in life. That is part of me. That is who I am. I was not genetically born that way. As of now, I have all the male parts and all that kind of stuff...[but] still identify as female."

On thoughts Jenner's transgender identity is just a publicity stunt: "I am going to go through a complete gender change...for the show? Sorry, Diane. It ain't helping. We're doing this for publicity? Yeah, right!"

On the larger implications of his story: "What I'm doing is going to do some good, and we're going to change the world...we're going to make a difference in the world with what we're doing."

On coping with this for his entire life: "I just can't pull the curtain any longer...Bruce lives a lie. She is not a lie."

On his sexuality: "No, I'm not gay...I've never been with a's apples and oranges." However, he ended the interview saying, "Let's go with asexual for now."

On Kris Jenner: "Kris is a good woman...if she had been good with [my gender identity] and really understood it, we'd probably still be together."

On deciding not to commit suicide: "I can't do something like that. I want to know how this story ends."

On Khloe Kardashian's difficulty with Jenner's transition: "She's had the toughest time with it because she's had a lot of losses in her life."

On Kim Kardashian's support: "Kimberly has been, by far, the most accepting and the easiest to talk to about it."

On speculation the trans community feels Jenner's story will derail their cause: "I sure hope not. That's not my intention whatsoever. I'd like to work with this community to get this message out."

On his political affiliation (He's Republican!): "I've kinda been more on the conservative that a bad thing?"

On the road ahead: "I've got my health. I've got my children...I'm actually really excited about the future...2015 is going to be quite a ride."

On one of Jenner's transition goals: "Be able to have my nail polish long enough that it actually chips off."

On what he's saying goodbye to: "I'm saying goodbye to people's perception of me...I'm not saying goodbye to me. Because this has always been me."
