'Saturday Night Live' Nails #OscarsSoWhite In Hilarious Screen Guild Awards Skit

SNL honors all of the white actors playing inconsequential roles.

If you're not already aware, the Oscars have taken lots of flack lately for the absence of black nominees two years in a row. Lots of celebrities have agreed to boycott the show altogether including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee.

A month away from the show and Saturday Night Live has already created their own spoof about the rising #OscarsSoWhite dilemma. The skit takes place at the Screen Guild Awards were Cecily Strong announces the best actor nominees. We see quickly see some of the most talented black actors overshadowed by white actors in inconsequential roles. For example, Strong introduces Thurgood, a fictional film about Thurgood Marshall. The actor playing the Supreme Court Justice is overlooked and the nomination goes to a white dude who shows and tells Marshall that the library is closing. The skit is riddled with jokes and great performances, but also helps raise awareness of the lack of diversity the Academy has.
