How Are the 'Furious 7' Stars Coping with Paul Walker's Death?
With the Furious 7 premiere around the corner, the film's stars are discussing the devastating loss of Paul Walker. Vin Diesel honored his friend by naming his newborn Pauline, and Michelle Rodriguez is opening up about how she "went pretty crazy" after his death.
Rodriguez recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the loss, and how it led her to do things she would "never do" in the right state of mind. She opens up about the months that followed Walker's November 2013 death, when she was spotted with and rumored to be dating Zac Efron and Cara Delevingne.
I was pushing myself to feel. I felt like nothing I could do could make me feel alive, so I just kept pushing myself harder and harder. I was traveling and I was having sex. And I was just trying to ignore everything that I was feeling. I could see Paul once every two years and just know there was another human on the planet who's deep like me, who loves like that. When that disappears, you wonder, "Wait a minute, what do I hold on to?" There was nothing to tether me to this existence: "Why am I fucking here? And, like, why'd you leave without me?"
The film's stars continue to emphasize the importance of family in the movie, creating a strong support system for one another. "I couldn't wait to talk about [the movie] because it's an opportunity to talk about Paul. I miss him, I love him," Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson told Today Wednesday morning. "Paul is beautifully honored at the end of the film."
Furious star Tyrese Gibson looks back on Walker's life with positivity, laughing about how they first met: finding out they were both seeing the same girl (an extra in Furious 2). "We're very proud at the way [the film] all came together in the end," he tells Kathie Lee and Hoda. "With the full support of our brother, the angel who we all miss and love dearly, his whole family supported the idea of moving forward."
