Last weekend, Lady Gaga and R. Kelly set The Internets™ on fire with their rendition of "Do What U Want" on Saturday Night Live, a performance that reintroduced the concept of sex pushups back into the national consciousness. Earlier today, though, Kells set the bar for tonight's performance at the American Music Awards impossibly high when he told Rolling Stone that "No offense to #SNL but that was a dress rehearsal for #AMAs."

Well, suffice to say, Kells is a man of his word. He and Lady Gaga turned in a performance that was far and away the most entertaining of the evening (which, we should say here, had a number of fun moments). Despite the fact that nary a sex push-up was involved, Stefani and Robert made jaws drop by turning themselves into some sort of hybrid between Marilyn/JFK and Olivia/Fitz. (Somewhere, Lana Del Rey is saying "Hey, me and A$AP Rocky did that last year!") This "Do What U Want" was a considerable jump up from their SNL performance in terms of both spectacle and preparation; there was spoken dialogue, multiple sets, a plethora of costume changes, crazy choreography, and even home video of a young Stefani Germanotta playing the piano involved! Best of all, though, it transformed R. Kelly into our POTUS for the briefest of moments; our fingers are crossed and will remain so until R.Kelly declares his intent to run for the presidency in 2016!

We'll have more on the 2013 American Music Awards for you tomorrow, including the Worst Dressed Celebrities and a look back at the evening's Arm Candy.
