Hugh Grant Blesses Us with a New Romantic Comedy
It’s like the rom-com gods have answered our prayers. Ever since Love Actually and Music and Lyrics, we’ve been waiting for Hugh Grant to give us another perfect guilty pleasure to cozy up with. Introducing, The Rewrite.
The flick is set on the Binghamton University campus in upstate New York where Keith Michaels (Grant) — once an award-winning screenwriter, now more of a has-been — takes up a professorship. Despite defining teaching as “an absurd profession practiced by desperate failures,” the disgruntled fallen star ships off to Vestal to begin a screenwriting class. While desperately searching for inspiration on campus, he takes a particular interest in <3 Holly Carpenter (Marisa Tomei) <3, a single mom also looking to start anew. Let the witty, flirty banter and romance begin.
The Rewrite which also features Allison Janney and J.K. Simmons, opens in theaters and on VOD and iTunes Feb. 13. So if you want to go the movies Valentine's Day weekend with your dad or prudish cousin, this is the one for you. (Sorry, Fifty Shades of Grey.)
