Tyra Banks Reveals She Got a Nose Job and Encourages Women to "Stop Judging" Cosmetic Surgery

“Fix it or flaunt it — I think women should be able to do both!”

Not every woman is born with perfectly chiseled features and flawless beauty - not even the women you see in magazines and on runways. Legendary supermodel and America's Next Top Model creator Tyra Banks has spent the majority of her life in the spotlight, and now she's ready to help women shed some of their impossible beauty standards.

In her new memoir Perfect Is Boring, Ms. Banks gets real about going under the knife for a little nip tuck. “I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching,” the 44-year-old revealed. “I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth.”

When it comes to the pressure to look perfect without makeup, Banks has no problem admitting that she did not wake up like this. “We place a lot of emphasis on that. As a model, I needed makeup. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It leveled my playing field. Gisele, you don’t need it? I do! And we’re both modeling for Victoria’s Secret.”

Amen to that!

So why is she revealing all of this now? Well, Tyra is passionate about helping women accept and love their authentic selves while also encouraging us to quit judging others who choose to undergo cosmetic enhancements.

“Fix it or flaunt it — I think women should be able to do both,” she explains, according to PEOPLE. “There is a boundary line, either you’re super natural or you live at the plastic surgeon. It’s okay to hop back and forth over that line. You want a hair weave? Fine. You want permanent eyebrows? Fine. We as women need to stop judging.”

Ty Ty is no stranger to laying her imperfections out on front street. In 2015, she posted this striking makeup-free selfie with an empowering message. "I wanted to smooth out my dark circles so badly!!! But I was like, "Naw, Ty. Show 'em the REAL you." So...here I am. Raw. And there YOU are...looking at me, studying this picture. Maybe you're thinking, "Whoa, she looks ROUGH." And if you are, great! You deserve to see the REAL me. The REALLY real me."

Flaws and all, Tyra still looks damn good if you ask me. Tyra's forthcoming book Perfect Is Boring hits shelves April 3rd.

In this ANTM clip, Tyra and the panel discuss the work of the models as one will be sent home, and a previously eliminated model will take her place.
