' Law And Order SVU ' Uses Chris Brown And Rihanna's Real Life Domestic Violence For Upcoming Episode

Rihanna is going to be pissed when she learns that one of the worst moments of her life has made its way to an episode of NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. It's "Nobody's Business" until it's everybody's business. Know what we mean?

In the upcoming "My Funny Valentine" episode of Law & Order SVU, Rihanna and Chris Brown's unfortunate domestic violence ordeal will be captured on screen. Joi (Starshell Menzies), a superstar in her own right, is abused by her pop star boyfriend Caleb Bryant (Eugene Jones). Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) wants Joi to leave but it's not that simple. Meanwhile Rihanna's in Hawaii celebrating her 25th birthday with her boo right by her side. Longtime fans of the show understand that taking real headline news and turning it into a fictitious plot for an episode isn't uncommon. Anna Nicole Smith wasn't off limits either.

Domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women in their lifetime so it's wise for pop culture and society as a whole not to shy away from the topic. The only real concern with using Rihanna and Chris Brown as a storyline is how it may trigger Rihanna as a victim, and whether the show will handle it with enough care not to engage in victim blaming. Now we shall sit back to wait for Rihanna's snarky tweet giving the TV show the big fat F you.
