Rebel Wilson Reveals How Fame Influences Her Weight

"I saw my size as being an advantage."

Many actors take on and put off weight for different roles. Rebel Wilson, who is commonly known as her role as "Fat Amy" in Pitch Perfect has opened up about her weight issues and the huge role fame plays in it.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Wilson talked about noticing that a "bigger" girl with similar comedy chops was getting more laughs than she was. "And I remember distinctly thinking: 'I think it's because she's fatter,'" she said. "And then, I don't know if it was mega-conscious, but I thought: 'How can I get more laughs? Maybe if I was a bit fatter...' And then suddenly I was fatter, and doing comedy."

Even though she does put on weight for roles, she makes time to slim back down to her ideal size.

"I'll take six months off, and just do a total transformation. But then, so many people go: 'Don't you do it!' But I think: 'Why not?' " she told The Telegraph.

She doesn't see her weight as an insecurity, but as a tool for success.

"I saw my size as being an advantage, whereas so many women see it as a disadvantage," she said.
