Oprah Defends the Kardashians, Putting Me and Rebel Wilson in Check

Oprah and Jesus are nearly one in the same. When Oprah speaks, you listen. When she walks, you follow. When she has a view opposing your own, you reflect and think about what kind of person you really are. The queen, whose name is synonymous with the American Dream, came to the Kardashians' defense after Rebel Wilson called them "superficial" and talent-less, making me come to a realization.

"I interviewed the Kardashians two years ago and I can’t believe how hard they work," Oprah said recently on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM Australia. "People don’t understand that, people think, 'Oh, if a television camera’s just following you then that’s just easy.' To really create a reality series that looks like something’s actually happening, it means you have to be on all the time," she said. "We were there for 7 hours and they were gonna tape another 7 hours after I left. No matter who you are, that is work."

Damn, Oprah. Damn.

Not that I completely agreed with Rebel's notion to begin with, but Oprah definitely checked this bitch. This bitch meaning me. Originally, I pointed out that work ethic did help the Kardashian-Jenner family build their empire, even though I was slightly put-off by Kendall and Kylie having their multi-million dollar fame practically handed to them. But Oprah makes a good point: being "on" is draining in itself. After "being on" for a few hours prepping for an interview or an event, or anything mentally taxing, I'm f---ing exhausted.

I also originally pointed out that there are different types of fame, and Oprah just makes me realize there are different types of talent as well. Kim's song "Jam"-although iconic in its own right-didn't earn her a Grammy and Kourtney's cameo on One Life to Live surprisingly didn't get her the Emmy. But by being real-life Energizer Bunnies, they're constantly entertaining us in some way, which is why we're still feeding into their supremacy.

I'm not backing down from what I said originally, but now I understand how the Kardashians work harder in ways we don't realize or give them credit for. Oprah just made me see the light. Praise you, O.
