N.W.A. Biopic 'Straight Outta Compton' Gets Co-signed by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube

The first Straight Outta Compton trailer is here, and it's pulling no punches. Introduced by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, also the film's producers, the explosive first look dives deep into the roots of L.A.'s most notorious rap group, N.W.A.

Starring newcomers O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Eazy-E, Straight Outta Compton documents the rise and fall N.W.A., and how the Compton-bred crew became a beacon of hope for youth when the nation was in chaos during the L.A. Riots.

Additionally, Short Term 12 breakout star Keith Stanfield joins the cast as Snoop Dogg, while Aldis Hodge plays MC Ren and Neil Brown Jr. is DJ Yella. Directed by F. Gary Gray, the film is due out in theaters August 14.

Before the N.W.A. biopic lineup was official, Ice Cube gave us his dream cast.
