Friday Face-Off: Eminem Vs. Smash Mouth
May I have your attention please: Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Ahhh those infamous lyrics. We all have song faves from years ago, even decades, but few lyrics have stood the test of time. Fortunately, some musical gems have stuck, past the days of butterfly hair clips, tattoo stretch chokers and Velcro sneakers. So which songs made the cut? Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" and Smash Mouth's "All Star" of course! Vote now and tell us which catchy song is still adored, even in 2013. Now go on... get your game on, go play.
Team Eminem
Eminem "The Real Slim Shady" - Waitdahminute. There's a cameo by Kathy Griffin? Sold. But aside from this excellent casting, there's some true entertainment in this video. Eminem may come across as a serious dude in many of his raps, but not here, and that's why we love him. Diversity, baby. From posing as a psych ward patient, to playing a superhero, this guy keeps us on our toes. Not to mention, he utters "my bum is on your lips" without so much as smirking. Anyone who can pull off those lyrics with a straight face deserves a medal. Perhaps even a Friday Face-Off win...
Team Smash Mouth
Smash Mouth "All Star" - Oh snap! Looks like we have some rival cameos on our hands. With appearances by Ben Stiller, Dane Cook and Hank Azaria, this video gives Slim Shady a run for his money. However, I'm not sure I totally get the plot line here. There's a car chase and subsequent crash, a spontaneous break-dance, and finally, lead singer Steve Harwell rescuing a puppy from a fire. Either I hit my head this morning, or this video is a whole mess o' crazy. Either way, I can recite these lyrics inside and out, and that's something to celebrate. Perhaps by giving them a Friday Face-Off vote...
