The 'ANTM' Cycle 24 Winner Talks With Drew About How The Show Helped Her Realize She Was A Real Model
Kyla was the underdog of the season. She didn’t have any experience and was constantly being told by the judges that she needed to have a breakthrough and really bring it in order to stand out and stay in the competition. Something clearly clicked during the dripping in gold photo shoot because Kyla finally showed the judges what they were wanting to see and that she wanted to win America's Next Top Model... and that's exactly what she did.
Winning ANTM took Kyla by surprise because she never saw herself as model before being on the show. In fact, she was making coffee in her small town, when she was encouraged to apply based on her Instagram. There definitely was a learning curve for her but she was more than willing to learn everything from all of the people around her, which included modeling techniques but also how she felt about herself.
"I didn't see myself how you guys saw me, to be honest. Like, my first meeting with you guys, like I was like getting called 'pretty' and I was getting called all of this stuff I never considered myself. So I think one of my biggest lessons was allowing myself to like just grow as what I want to be instead of what I had to be."
As the only model not to be eliminated at any point in the competition, there wasn't any need to talk about what Kyla would have done differently, but what would an exit interview be without a little tea? According to Kyla, the messiest girl in the house was Liz. Coura was the funniest, and Jeana... well, she was the horniest.
