Teyana Taylor Opens up About Kanye's "Fade" Video, That Sexy Shower Scene and People Not Knowing Who She Is

"I was looking at Kanye like, 'I'm standing here naked with these damn sheep.'"

Teyana Taylor's starring role in Kanye's "Fade" music video has made it one of the best of the year. The video made its debut at the 2016 MTV VMAs and frankly, it was a lot to take in. Taylor's jaw-dropping moves and incredible body under the direction of Kanye's artistic genius made for an unforgettable performance that people can't stop talking about.

Taylor's visible confidence in the video seems to suggest that it was well-planned or that she rehearsed nearly a hundred times, but as she tells us, this was not the case. The dance scenes were mostly freestyle and only took three takes to nail.

"We were kinda just switching things as we went, adding things as we went," Taylor tells us. "I think I got pooped on by the sheep," she says, adding that it wasn't a pretty sight, considering how much coconut oil she had on her body for the shoot.

"It was a good time. I was able to let off some steam and put all my emotions and all my excitement, all my intensity, my hard work that I've been giving for so long, I was able to put all of that into that moment in the movement," she says. Of that steamy shower scene with husband Iman Shumpert, Taylor reveals the chemistry was so real, they "almost made a Junie part two" that same night.

Despite being signed to Kanye's GOOD Music label, Taylor admits that not that many people know who she is—yet. This fact is best exemplified by recent outlets reporting on her as if she's only just entered the scene.

"I feel like what Kanye did was open up that platform for everybody to see what I've been doing," Taylor says. "You might not know me, but they're trying to get familiar. I don't think anybody meant any harm."

Taylor thinks the video has come at the perfect time in her career, as she's now experiencing "a different kind of hunger" and "intensity" for her work. She has a recurring role on VH1's upcoming series The Breaks and is set for a stint on Hip Hop Squares. She also gave a next-level tribute to Lil' Kim at VH1's 2016 Hip Hop Honors show.
