R. Kelly is (Sort Of) Speaking Up About Those Sex Cult Allegations
R. Kelly has been at the epicenter of some pretty intense allegations that he is the leader of some sort of sex cult that involves young women being taken away from their families and allegations of physical and emotional abuse. If you haven't been keeping up, it's pretty bananas.
While one of the women has since come forward in a recording explaining that they're not in danger or being held against their own will, it all reads a little too much like Stockholm Syndrome for everyone's liking. And so the rumors have continued to swirl.
Kelly has already denied that there is any truth to these claims in a statement made by Kelly’s attorney, Linda Mensch. According to the statement, “Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed at the recent revelations attributed to him. Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such allegations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.”
But other than that statement, Kelly has stayed silent on the issue. That is, until he posted this video explaining that his tour will go on as scheduled "despite all the crap" we've heard.
"And believe [him], y'all. It's a bunch of crap."
We're not so sure about the dimly lit video and assertions that the allegations are crap, but Kelly has had pretty steady ticket sales since the report from Buzzfeed News was first released.
