Listen up, rock fans: The DVD of Eric Clapton's 2013 Crossroads Guitar Festival is going to drop on November 19th (that's soon)! Held only every three years, Crossroads is like a rock 'n' roll Olympics, chock full of the world's greatest six-string virtuosos and axe shredders. In celebration of this impending release, VH1 Classic will be broadcasting a marathon of the 2004, 2007 and 2010 Crossroads concerts this Sunday, November 17th at 3pm.
This year's show took place in April at New York's Madison Square Garden, and boasted the likes of the Allman Brothers, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr., Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Mayer, ol' Slowhand himself, and so many more. Created to raise money for Clapton's Crossroads drug treatment facility, the festival will allow music lovers to listen to some incredible music, and music nerds to drool over some incredible guitars!
Clapton is obviously quite the aficionado, and has given us guitar geeks obscene amounts of pleasure during his fabled instrument auctions, when he parts with pieces of his priceless collection for the sake of charity. For those of us with six-strings on the brain, the high quality auction book images of these historical instruments are very much like porn. And apparently we're not alone, because these guitars sell for HUGE amounts of cash. Like, more money then we'll ever see in our lives, combined with all the money you'll ever see in your entire life. But if we had the money, we'd definitely do the same thing. Costs be damned, we just gotta have it!
To get ourselves in the mood for the upcoming DVD of guitar goodness, we've decided to take a look back at some of the most insanely expensive guitars ever sold. Head up to the gallery above and have a look around! Just don't play "Stairway To Heaven"...
