This Carly Rae Jepsen And NIN Mashup Is Unholy, Yet Undeniable
We're already firmly on the record with our desire to leave "Call Me Maybe" in 2012 where it belongs, but we'll readily admit that there's a part of us that will never be able resist the lure of Carly Rae Jepsen's disco strings. That arrangement is so catchy and inspiring that it can even turn the material of an angst-ridden sourpuss like Trent Reznor into something that makes you think of nothing but puppies and rainbows.
Soundcloud user PomDeterrific is responsible for the unholy yet undeniable mashup "Call Me A Hole" (not to be confused with "Call Me A-Hole"), which fuses the glorious disco strings of "Call Me Maybe" with Nine Inch Nails' pulsatingly industrial ode to BDSM "Head Like A Hole." The sunshininess of the music paired with Reznor's nihilistic lyrics results in something slyly subversive, an earworm that we won't soon be able to shake.
