Get Hype! Hype Williams Will Be Honored at VH1's 'Hip Hop Honors: The 90's Game Changers'

His fish-eye lens helped to shine the spotlight on so many music superstars.

The honorees for this year's Hip Hop Honors: The '90s Game Changers just keep rollin' in. If you thought that it couldn't get any better than Martin Lawrence and Mariah Carey, think again! VH1 has announced that the next honoree to grace the stage at the Hip Hop Honors will be legendary director Hype Williams.

The '90s style block party is being opened with a performance by Missy Elliott and hosted by Regina Hall, and airs Monday, September 18th at 9PM ET/PT.

Williams was the definitive music video director in the '90s. Not to mention the work he has done today with artists like Nicki Minaj and Queen Beyoncé herself. You can pretty much name an iconic music video and he's got his name attached to it. His fish-eye lens helped to shine the spotlight on such top-selling artists as Nas, DMX, Missy Elliott and P. Diddy.

The Hollis, Queens-native initially aspired to become a painter, but Williams’ graffiti tagging art morphed into a career behind the camera as an award-winning director. He’s earned accolades from The Billboard Music Awards, VMAs and The NAACP Image Awards. In 1998, Williams leapt from the small screen to the big screen with his feature film debut, Belly, starring Nas and DMX.

We can't wait to see this game changer be honored when Hip Hop Honors: The 90's Game Changers airs Monday, September 18th at 9PM/ET.
