VH1 Is Shining the Light on All the First Ladies of Hip-Hop With the Return of "Hip Hop Honors"

It's been 12 years since VH1 first aired "Hip Hop Honors" and this summer, you can watch it make its grand return. VH1 is bringing back "Hip Hop Honors" to shine the light on all of the showstopping first ladies of hip-hop. That's right, ladies. This one's for you.

VH1's special will be produced by Flavor Unit, Shakim Compere and Queen Latifah, with special guests to be announced. Since its inception in 2004, “VH1’s Hip Hop Honor” has recognized the luminaries who broke new ground and propelled the genre into the cultural phenomenon it has become. From legends in the game like Public Enemy and Russell Simmons to influential stars the likes of Tupac Shakur and A Tribe Called Quest, VH1 has honored hip hop from its origins through the numerous phases of its musical evolution.

The honorees are in! We told you the return of VH1's Hip Hop Honors was going to be extra special and the collection of leading women we will honor proves it. Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Salt-N-Pepa featuring Dj Spindrella and Lil' Kim make up the roster of legendary honorees.
