George and Amal Clooney Become Parents
No one thought perpetual bachelor George Clooney, 56, would ever get married, let alone become a father, so when he and wife Amal, 39, announced in February that they were expecting twins, it came as quite the happy surprise. Amal later gave birth to daughter Ella and son Alexander on June 6.
Prince Harry Gets Engaged
After months of speculation, Prince Harry announced that he had proposed to his American actress girlfriend, Meghan Markle. The pair announced the news on November 27, and will tie the knot at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
Khloe Kardashian Reveals She’s Pregnant
While Khloe’s pregnancy is one of three in her family this year (sisters Kim and Kylie are also expecting), it takes on more significance given her many years of waiting. Fans of KUWTK will remember that Khloe suffered from infertility while married to her ex-husband Lamar Odom, so she was overjoyed to announce on December 21 that she’s expecting with boyfriend Tristan Thompson.
Selena Gomez Gets a Kidney Transplant
Fans didn’t see much of Selena Gomez in the summer of 2017, but we’re positive they never guessed the reason why. She announced in September that she had received a kidney transplant over the summer! She received the transplant after being diagnosed with Lupus a couple years back, and her friend Francia Raisa stepped up to donate to her.
Madonna Adopts Two More Children
In February, at age 58, Madonna announced that she had welcomed her fifth and sixth children, adopting 4-year-old twins Estere and Stella from Malawi. They were reportedly from the same orphanage where her son David lived before she adopted him in 2006.
Cardi B Went From Reality TV to World Domination
We really don't even need to explain. In January she released a mix tape. By November, she had become a Fashion Week darling, magazine cover model, fiancée to Offset, Jimmy Fallon's BFF and, oh yeah, #1 on the Billboard chart.

After news broke in October that Harvey Weinstein had been accused of numerous instances of sexual harassment and misconduct, a groundswell of female celebs revealed that they too had been victim of harassment, using the #MeToo hashtag. Thousands more women of all walks over life also joined the movement.

Adele swept the top five awards at the 2017 Grammys with her 25 album, but when she accepted the award for Album of the Year, she threw some major respect Beyonce’s way. She thought Beyonce’s Lemonade album was very deserving of the honor, saying, “I can’t possibly accept this award, and I’m very humbled, and I’m very grateful and gracious, but the artist of my life is Beyoncé.”
She continued, “This album, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental, Beyoncé, so monumental, and so well thought out, and so beautiful and soul-bearing, and we all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see.”
Moonlight Wins Best Picture
Barry Jenkins’ coming-of-age drama Moonlight won Best Picture at the Oscars, which in itself would be notable, but the way it won was truly shocking. When actors Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway made the announcement, they were given the incorrect card, and announced the wrong movie.
The cast of La La Land was in the process of giving an acceptance speech when they realized there had been a mistake, and Moonlight was called up to accept. It was later revealed that accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers had been responsible for the error.

Fans who have been waiting four long years for Eminem to release a new album were ecstatic when he finally dropped Revival on December 15. And in a bonus surprise, he shocked everyone when he released his surprise collaboration with Beyonce, "Walk on Water," in November. Kicking off his comeback was a stellar performance at The BET Awards where he performed a cypher eviscerating Donald Trump.
Wonder Woman’s Massive Box Office Success
The female-led action movie toplined by director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot became the highest-grossing film of the summer, going on to earn over $821 million worldwide over the course of 2017. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s also now the most successful superhero origin story ever.
Justin and Selena Reunite
After Selena’s life-threatening health issues and subsequent kidney transplant, she broke up with boyfriend The Weeknd and delighted fans everywhere by reuniting with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber this fall. The two seem to be settling in to a quieter life together, frequently seen attending church.
Prince William and Wife Kate Expecting Third Child
Prince William and his wife Kate revealed in September that Kate is pregnant with her third child. The parents of George, 4, and Charlotte, 2 have not revealed the gender of the future royal, who is rumored to be arriving in April 2018.
